Whiplash: A Near Perfect Film

I honestly don't know what to say about this movie. It was so good. It was a great story on the price of greatness. Fletcher and Neimann's dynamic is amazing. The acting is fantastic. The characters are extremely compelling. The music is also great. I think for sure Whiplash was one of the greatest acted movies I have ever seen. I am not a huge cinematography guy but there are some great shots in the movie as well. I think the writing and the performances are what really make this movie as good as it is. I love how they show Neimann's dedication throughout the film. The one thing that I wish was different was the final performance. I think that Neimann's solo goes on just a little bit too long. The scene was great and what it is trying to convey I think was done really well but at a point I felt like it was going on just a little long and I was ready for it finish. But overall, the movie was amazing, I was hooked the entire time. I think Whiplash is a showing that a movie can be extremely compelling and wildly engaging with just good writing, you don't need crazy action and drama, you need compelling characters who make the audience care about their journey.
