Interstellar: The Overrated Masterpiece

I think Interstellar is a bit overrated. The acting in the movie is fantastic, and arguably the best part in my opinion. Matthew McConaughey does such an amazing job and really pulls you in. I think the visual of the movie is incredible, the score is fantastic, and the feeling of the movie is epic and intense. I do think that the score is too good for some scenes. Cornfield Chase is probably my favorite song in the movie, and I think the scene it plays in is not that interesting, and I still don't understand the point of it. For me, the movie felt like it was relying a lot on its star power, visuals, and music. The story did not land as much for me. I don't buy that Cooper would leave his children to go "save the world" on a very slim chance. If the world is ending, I think he would want to stay with his children, he seems like that kind of Dad, it felt like he was abandoning his daughter and it didn't feel realistic to the character the built him as. The plot "twists" did not land for me either. Not only does the time dimension not make any sense, but I predicted it from the beginning. It felt like once I saw some weird ghost behavior, heard there was a black hole, and knew it was a Nolan film, I immediately could deduce that there would be time travel, and I did not like that. Now I do care for the characters, but I don't like the direction they take with Cooper, it just doesn't feel believable which takes me out of the story at times. The science is cool, and the scale and weight that it feels when they are losing time does hit well. Overall I think the concept, score, and acting power really carry a story that for me was lacking
